Top Travel Tips

Hey Guys,

I am lucky enough to get to travel a lot with my family and on school trips, so despite my ripe old age of 14 I would consider myself somewhat qualified to give advice on travel.  Over the last 14 years my travel experiences have been varied and I’ve learnt a thing or two.  So today I would like to share my advice with you.

Tip Number One: Be concise
Yes you want to take 7 dresses, 3 pairs of jeans, 10 shirts, 4 swimsuits and Tasmania in your suitcase, but is that necessarily practical? No, it’s not.  The best advice I can give you is to limit yourself in regards to what you take.  For example, 2 dresses, a pair of jeans, 3/4 shorts and 2 swimsuits.  We can leave out Tasmania.  This way you’ll have everything you need but your suitcase won’t explode.

Tip Number Two: Plan Ahead.
If you know you want to take a particular clothing item away with you, don’t wear it in the days leading up to the trip.  If you do you may find it’s in the wash and you don’t get to take it, or you’ll end up traveling with scrunched up, worn clothing.  Neither is a good option.

Tip Number Three: Triple Check Everything
This one is relatively self-explanatory but just remember; you do not want to be the person that goes to somewhere like Hawaii and forgets their swimsuit and camera..

Tip Number Four:  Journalling
While this doesn’t necessarily involve the actual traveling procedure I think it’s really important to take photos and keep a journal of your trip away so that you have something to look back on in the future.

Tip Number Five: A Travel Wallet
If you are traveling by air I would seriously recommend a travel wallet.  These are super helpful for inexperienced or nervous travellers as they keep you organised and they have section have for money, your passport, your cards and your boarding pass.

Tip Number Six: Have Fun
Sure it may be slightly stressful but remember, you are going on holiday to have fun so relax and try to have as much fun as possible!

Bonne Vacances

With holidays here and time on our hands we need to come up with some activities that we can use to fill our time and that will provide us with plenty of fun.  A picnic is a great way to have fun and is easy to create (plus it doesn’t cost much).  So here are my tips to have a great picnic.

  1. Get a group of friends together
  2. Pick a nice park to go to.
  3. Pack food.
    1. sushi
    2. sandwiches
    3. chips
    4. lollies
    5. pizza
  4. Pack drinks
    1. soft drink
    2. water
    3. juice
  5. Get a picnic blanket.  Try to have for every three people so you know that everyone has plenty of room as well as leaving space for the food.
  6. Take some music with you.
  7. Take some games to play
  8. Have fun

Autumn Must-Haves

As many of you know it is now Easter holidays which means many things including Autumn (if you’re Australian) and that means new fashion trends and faves so here are some of mine.

1. Jeans. This may seem obvious but I can’t stress enough how important it is to fill your wardrobe with jeans in the autumn/winter.  They go with anything, come in a variety of styles, colours and lengths and this means that they are your perfect staple piece and are the best option when it comes to pairing items with a bright or vibrant top.

2. Cardigan.  A loose cardigan is an ideal essential for this time of year because it can be layered over a daytime outfit to turn it into an outfit suitable for a night out when it might be a little but colder.

3. Light Jumper.  This has the same advantages as a cardigan in that it’s comfortable and has the ability to look effortlessly cool and casual because of their slouchy nature

4. Flannel Shirts.  A flannel shirt is another item that is effortlessly cool.  Not to mention the fact that they are very on trend and come in so many different styles that you will definitely find one that suits you.

5. Dark Lip.  Dark lipstick is the perfect way to transition your overall look from summer into winter/autumn.  If you’re unsure of how to transition your look I would recommend watching this dark lip tutorial by youtuber Michelle Phan.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3vv6dRqn1o

6. Boots.  Whether your style be girly or grunge a pair of boots will transition jeans and a tank/tee from summer to autumn whilst remaining comfy and casual. (I would seriously recommend adding a flannel around the waist to complete this look.

7. Long sleeve dress.  A long sleeve dress is great because it has the potential to be worn with boots and tights for a wintery look but also the ability to be worn with sandals in summer.  This makes it the ideal transitional piece for autumn months.

8. Beanies. If you meet anyone that tells you they dislike beanies please immediately either slap them or explain to them why we need beanies.  Beanies are comfy, cute, able to express opinions/beliefs and most importantly can hide bad hair days.  I think that beanies are one of the essentials for all year round but especially for autumn and winter.

9. Leather Jacket.  A leather jacket is great because they are relatively light so they don’t keep you too hot if it still isn’t freezing outside but they do provide you with an edgy fall look that gives you a cool vibe.

10. Infinity Scarf.  Infinity scarves come in many different fabrics, thicknesses and designs meaning that this is another item that can truly be used to fit any style.  You can go tartan, striped, plain, wool, cotton etc.  and it can truly transform your outfits into ones for autumn.
